WATCH: James Clapper Has ‘No Regrets’ Over Hunter Biden Laptop Letter

Former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper said he has “no regrets” over the infamous Hunter Biden laptop letter, which, without evidence, claimed the laptop was tampered with by Russian intelligence officials. The letter was signed by 51 former intelligence officials — including Clapper — and is believed to have had massive ramifications on the 2020 election.

“Do you regret signing that letter, in the wake of how things have transpired and where things are today and how Republicans in Congress are using that letter?” CNN host Kaitlan Collins asked.

“Well, to answer your question, no, I don’t regret it. I thought, at the time, that it was appropriate to sound a warning about, watch out for the dark hand of the Russians. And in my case, this was on the heels of what I saw the Russians do in 2016 to interfere and influence the outcome of our election,” Clapper replied.

“So, I thought it was appropriate. I thought the letter was appropriately caveated, by acknowledging we didn’t have any direct evidence. And, to this day, I still have not seen any official results of a forensic analysis of that laptop as to whether or not, in some way, the Russians messed with it.”

Collins later pointed out that there is no evidence to validate the claim that the laptop was tampered with by Russian intelligence agencies, which Clapper acknowledged.

The laptop — which contains emails relating to the Biden family’s numerous business dealings with foreign governments — was labeled as “Russian disinformation” after the infamous letter was circulated.

FBI officials told Facebook and Twitter to be prepared for a story that will contain Russian influence in the lead-up to the 2020 election, which led to the story being scrubbed from both sites. Several media outlets also refused to cover the story, citing the laptop as proof.

On April 20, former acting CIA Director Mike Morrell admitted that the Biden campaign pressured him to “help Biden” by organizing 50 intelligence officers to sign a letter labelling the Hunter Biden laptop as “Russian disinformation.” The campaign official who reached out has been identified as current Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, Republican lawmakers have claimed.

One poll conducted by TIPP Insights found that 79% of Americans believe access to truthful reporting on the Hunter Biden laptop would have changed the outcome of the 2020 election.
