Hundreds of Muslims stormed the Swedish embassy in Baghdad in the early hours of Thursday morning and set it on fire.

It has been reported that no embassy staff were injured, and officials declined to give further details. Swedish embassy officials in Baghdad did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

RAIR Foundation USA’s Amy Mek posted a video of the violent and chaotic scenes inside the Swedish Embassy in Baghdad, where Muslims had entered and ransacked the premises.

Recently, Mek raised an important question on social media: Should we consider deporting Muslim migrants who demand that Western nations adhere to the principles outlined in their religious text as if we were living in an Islamic nation? This demand raises concerns about potential threats to our country and the establishment of Sharia law.

Supporters of Shia cleric Muqtada Sadr organized the protest on the eve of the planned burning of the Qur’an in Sweden, a move that has consistently triggered widespread violent protests and threats from Muslim-majority countries. Furthermore, many Muslims have held violent protests in various Western countries, demanding that governments implement Sharia blasphemy laws.

Amid escalating tensions, Iraq has taken significant diplomatic actions against Sweden. According to Reuters, Iraq is recalling its highest-ranking diplomat from Sweden, and in response, Sweden’s ambassador to Iraq is being asked to depart the country.

Iraq’s Communications Minister, Hayam al-Yasiri, has also announced a complete prohibition on business transactions with all Swedish companies within Iraq’s borders. One of the companies affected is telecommunications giant Ericsson, which has had its work permit revoked in the country.
